Moderate to severe lines and wrinkles in the face result from contracted facial muscles. When injected into a muscle, botulinum toxin blocks the muscle’s nerve signals. Without a signal, the muscle is unable to contract and create the lines and wrinkles that make faces look stressed and aged. The end result for the patient is a facial appearance that looks significantly more refreshed and relaxed.
In addition to minimizing moderate to severe lines and wrinkles, botulinum toxin type A injections can also be used to diminish neck bands, improve skin dimpling of the chin, soften a square jawline, and lift the corners of the mouth.
